The C.League is a men's professional football league sanctioned by CVB which represent the sport's highest level in the Cakranegara football league system. The competition was founded in 2006 after CVB announced its intention to establish a unified football competition between west and east Cakranegara. Previously, during the separation of Cakranegara as a result of Cakranegara Civil War, Cakranegara only composed of the western isles (today's Praya, North and South Saka Provinces). A league was established between the clubs within the area. Liga Nasional Cakranegara (English: Cakranegara National League) was the name. It existed in the spanned of 14 years, from 1992 until 2005. After the reunification of Cakranegara and East Cakra in 2002, a plan for a unified league have become the hottest topic. But bringing the plan into reality is a hard task. Clubs from East Cakra (today's Selaparang and Sembalun Provinces) are declined to travel all the way to the western part of the country. A high transportation cost become the prime obstacle. Then it was made a compromise to hold the competition only in 2 venues and the matches will be held half in the first venue and the other half matches are held in the second venue. The 2 venues selected are Saka Stadium in the capital, Ampenan and Selaparang Field in Selaparang. And the year 2006 was selected as the inaugural of this unified league. The name C.League is selected based on its simplicity. C.League is a shorten of Cakranegara League.
