The Champions League 11 final was the final match of the 11th edition of the IFCF Champions League, the world championship for club football.

Venue

The Battleground in Raynor City, Valanora, is the home stadium of Raynor City United. It was chosen from among seven bids to host the Champions League 11 final.

Background

This was Shearwater's first-ever international final. Fontvielle Impact were defending champions and defeated another Kelssek club, Latrobe Athletic, in the previous final.

Road to the final

Shearwater

Shearwater entered as Kelssek champions and had successfully defended their league title with two matches to spare, despite predictions the team had peaked. Shearwater had played in The Battleground just under two months earlier in an epic first leg semifinal win against six-time world champions Raynor City United.

Fontvielle

Fontvielle entered as champions of Valladares, but had gone through a poor start to their season that left them adrift of the league leaders and barely in the top half of the table by the halfway point. They clawed back a winning run towards the end of the league season to finish third. They also reached the semifinal of the King's Shield.

Match

Summary

Xena Allste opened the scoring in the first half, with Clement Grenier equalized in the 58th minute. The key breakthrough eame just three minutes into extra time. Shearwater had enjoyed more of the possession in the final ten minutes of regulation time but had been unable to unlock the Impact defence. This time they managed to connect their passes and force their way through. Brion Stienno’s shot was deflected slightly as Rudolph Marchesin attempted to block the shot. Shearwater then sealed the match with a counter attack with seconds to go. Tatjana Pistor flicked it on, and Peter Marsh arrived at the far post at the right moment to score.

Post-match

Historically, Shearwater had not been considered among Kelssek’s biggest clubs, but with this win they accomplished something none of them will ever be able to boast – the first Kelssek club to be world champions.
