The Poafmersia national football team, nicknamed the The Red Panjias, is a football team that represents Poafmersia in international football team competitions. It is managed by the Poafmersia Football Association (PFFA), who is in charge of all the administrative paperwork that the football team requires. The team actively represents Poafmersia in the World Cup and the Independents Associations Cup.

History

For a very long while, Poafmersia, back then known by its original name, PotatoFarmers, had a policy of isolationism, therefore limiting its interactions with the multiverse. However, in 2095 (Poafmersian time), there was a change following President Pikashru Nisharian's policy of "open border", which included the nation's official name change to make it look "less primitive". Adnan Suliaha, together with a group of football legends in Poafmersia, made a proposal to the government to set up the national team, and to start the plan of "sports diplomacy". Football then begun Poafmersia's first exposure to multiverse sports. Poafmersia's first foray into international football begun when they first signed up for World Cup 84, making their first attempt to qualify for the World Cup. They started by playing in the Baptism of Fire, where they surprised pundits to reach overall 3rd place following a 3-2 win over Pauh Janggi in extra time in the 3rd/4th placing playoffs. Apart from the World Cup, they have also participated in the Independents Associations Cup, a competition for associations that cannot take part in the 3 major sporting regionals, namely the AOCAF Cup, the Copa Rushmori, and the Campionato Esportiva. Poafmersia are the defending champions, having defeated HUElavia 3-2 after extra time in the finals of the 10th IAC.

Independent Associations Championship

To date, Poafmersia has made 2 appearances at this regional competition, and had produced really stunning results thus far. In their debut appearance, they defeated lots of tournament favourites on their way to achieving 4th, losing only to eventual champions New Lusitania in the semifinals before failing to defeat Port Ember in the Bronze Medal Match. They then went on to clinch the title next season, defeating tournament favourites HUElavia, condemning them to their third consecutive defeat in the finals.
