While a full list would be exhaustive, this is a list of colleges and universities in Zwangzug that are notable for being ranked in the top ten of the Zwangzug Hearsay and Provincialist Rumormonger rankings, having remarkably similar names to institutions in other countries, and/or participating in association football competitions.

102d Polyteknik

  • City: 102d
  • Motto: "I haf 2 b productiv"
  • Colors: Gray and yellow
  • Mascot: Bees

5th in HPR rankings. Archrivals of Stoal Institute of Science, and the slightly more "applied"/engineering focused faction of the prank war.

Bryce College

  • City: western FTC
  • Motto: "Fides, spes, et caritas"
  • Colors: Gold and black
  • Mascot: Lions

2nd in HPR rankings. In part due to its prominence in the large FTC, Bryce is probably the nation's most "prestigious" school historically even when lesser-known institutions provide similar intellectual heft. Its notable professors include Maxwell Pavand (English), Samuel Deston (religious studies), and Ryan Charis-Eaton (political science); English, economics, and psychology are its most popular majors.

Following her playing career and happenstance recruitment into researching causes of death among nonhuman citizens, footballer Misako Tsuki became an occasional guest lecturer; she had more success as the Lions' coach, leading them to the university title in season 30 (the 6th university competition).

Edison College

  • City: Sarott
  • Motto: "Semper lux"
  • Colors: Green and white
  • Mascot: Eagles

4th in HPR rankings.

Glune Institute of Natural Sciences

  • City: Gelma
  • Motto: "Blithe solace"
  • Colors: Gray and green
  • Mascot: Turtles

10th in HPR rankings. Popularly known as GIONS. Stereotyped as being the most abstract/impractical of the "big three" hard science schools (102d Polyteknik and Stoal Institute of Science being the others), which is not completely inaccurate.

Heisenberg University

  • City: Arlington
  • Motto: "To know the unknown"
  • Colors: Blue and black
  • Mascot: Owls

Joint 8th in HPR rankings. Where Erin Splinter went for undergraduate study. Champions of the first association football university bracket (Season 25).

Mandelbrot University

  • City: Farise
  • Motto: "Truth and beauty"
  • Colors: red and blue
  • Mascot: Lightning

1st in HPR rankings.

Stoal Institute of Science

  • City: Spenson
  • Motto: "As above, so below"
  • Colors: Green and orange
  • Mascot: Eagles

3rd in HPR rankings. Familiarly known as "StoalSci." Archrivals of 102d Polyteknik, with whom they contest a high-tech engineering prank war. Attempted to conduct experiments on the "announcers' curse" of the Zwangzug national baseball team during World Baseball Classic 14.

Taravin College

  • City: Engelburg
  • Motto: "Abundant in joy"
  • Colors: Red and silver
  • Mascot: Larks

7th in HPR rankings.

University of Jeatt--Kindtown

  • City: Kindtown
  • Motto: "Unite & strength"
  • Colors: Blue and maroon
  • Mascot: Squirrels

Joint 8th in HPR rankings. Historically, less athletically accomplished than the district's Lucina campus. Also known for its underground secret societies, such as the semi-legendary "Wise Men" who meet in the depths of abandoned parking garages.

Zwangzug University

  • City: Phyreax
  • Motto: "Froggug sederty bungo-bungo" (claimed to translate as "Forever to teach and learn," in Ancient Maxtopian)
  • Colors: Teal and silver
  • Mascot: Toads

6th in HPR rankings.
