Template:Philippine name/doc

This template is for use with Philippine (Philippine and Spanish) names that use non-Western European characters, but which are commonly transliterated in plain English characters (e.g. "ñ" simplified to "n"). The article is often but not always named with the Western European simplification, but sometimes vice versa. This template is suitable for either case.

Usage

• {{Philippine name|Mendoza|Salvador|ph=default}} →
  In this Philippine name, the middle name or maternal family name is Mendoza and the surname or paternal family name is Salvador.
• {{Philippine name|de la Cruz|ph=natural}} →
  In this Philippine name for natural children, there is no middle name nor paternal family name, but the surname is de la Cruz.

Note: Not all foreign Filipinos use this variant of naming standards.

• {{Philippine name|Mendoza|Salvador|de la Cruz|ph=married}} →
  In this Philippine name for married women, the birth middle name or maternal family name is Mendoza, the birth surname or paternal family name is Salvador, and the marital name is de la Cruz.

Note: Not all Filipino married women use this variant of naming standards. Also, some Filipino married men also use their spouse's last name as well.

• {{Philippine name|Mohammad|Ali|ph=muslims}} →
  In this Philippine name for Muslims, the name Mohammad is a patronymic, not a family name, and the family name is Ali.

Note: Not all Filipinos use this variant of naming standards.

  In this Philippine name for indigenous people, this person is addressed by the sole name, Humabon.

Note: Early Filipinos, some of them flourished until the American period particularly the Igorots, use this variant of naming standards.
