Tournament format and regulations
Format
The first season of the Challenge League was ordered to be a small format to allow for the 2018-19 reconstruction of the leagues. So the opening season contained only 4 sides. Each team would play the other 4 times for a total of 12 matches. The team crowned champions would gain promotion to the 2018-19 Premier League.
Promotion and relegation
The New Angus Football Association had decided that the leagues would be reconstructed into two leagues of 8 sides each, therefore 5 would be relegated down to the Challenge League to allow for an 8 team league from the next season, only the champions would gain promotion.
