The Girinatha Empire national football team (Basatu: Tim nasional sepakbola Mandala Girinatha) represents Girinatha Empire in international football competition since its establishment in 1920. It is controlled by Girinatha Empire Football Association (PSMG), for the governing body of football in the country, which is part of CMFA. Most of Girinatha Empire home matches are played in Manik Angkeran Stadium located in the capital, Telagawaja.
The team colloquially referred to as Laskar Tapak Dara (The Pigeon’s Cross Soldier) after the country’s national symbol. Informally, the team was referred to as Ing Madya (The Middle) which based on the country’s position right in the middle of Mandalanusa region. The fan club is known as Laskar Tridatu (Tridatu Army).
Like all others team within The Commonwealth, Girinatha Empire also lack of international appearance despite the team have been established as early as 1920. Lack of fund and national focus which didn’t support sports development was the reason in those period of time. In mid-20th century, members of The Commonwealth create their own competition. However, their inclusiveness has limit their national team development. With the push of professionalism and globalization, the association start to open up to international competition. Some may says that their decision is already too late. But isn’t it better late than never? With the strong Commonwealth relationship and inter-competition between them, the team has build a strong rivalry amongst them. Their biggest rival is Sagotra, but their regional rival is Sao Dominggo.
