Sylestone

History

Sylestone is, well, an interesting nation. Their Indigenous people are ages old, after crossing the strait to arrive in the lush island nation. But however, colonisers from an unknown nation came here 500 years ago. They built their civilisations and that was when sentient objects emerged. One day a wizard accidentally concocted a potion that brought objects to life. These objects went far and away and built their own city, called Kirkham, which is now home to 50,000 sentients. The humans colonised and got on well with the folk indigenous people, who told apparently bogus stories about elves and sentient animals living in the forests. It was only in the past couple of years that both of these stories were confirmed.

Geography

Sylestone is an island nation home to 25 million people located in Esportiva. The nation is home to humans, sentient objects, human-like animals and elves alike. The nation is 752, 320 kilometres square and looks rather like a rectangle. Sylestone is located in the tropics and temperatures often exceed 35 degrees Celsius all year round. The highest mountain is Piers Mountain, rising 3500 metres above sea level. Sylestone's villages often mark the most extreme points on a compass in the nation and are names alike.

Biodiversity

Sylestone is an incredibly biodiverse nation, with lush green rainforests to sweeping grasslands to stinking hot deserts. There are many interesting fruits, flowers and trees in the nation's rainforests, untouched by human civilisation. Snakes, spiders and other venomous creatures also inhabit the majority of the island and almost nowhere is perfectly safe from these creatures. But by keeping an eye out, you should be fine. Rainforests make up 30% of Sylestone's area although it certainly doesn't seem this way. Grasslands are the most prominent with 45% and deserts encounter for the remaining 25%.

Climate

One word: Hot. Sylestone's climate is hot all year round and can be very temperamental, especially in the wet season. In the dry season, temperatures are almost always between 25-35 degrees Celsius in the dry season. Not too many natural disasters occur in these months, ranging from April to October. However, between November and March, is the wet season. These months arew plagued by frequent cyclones, sandstorms and other atmospheric-related natural disasters. Whenever it reaches above 35 degrees celsius here, it rains. It only very rarely drops below 25C in the middle of the day. So if you want a bit more relaxation, come in the dry.

Sylestone's most common language is English, with 99% of the nation's inhabitants being fluent with it. 50,000 citizens (mostly elves), speak Elvish and the rest are fluent in either Irundji, the indigenous language, or some other foreign language. 5% of Sylestone's inhabitants speak Irundji. Roughly 15% of the population believe they are thoroughly bilingual.
