The Elven Premier League, more commonly known as The Premiership, is the first division of the Valanora football league system.
History
Elven First Division
Football was originally contested in the Eternal Empire in the Elven First Division, which was the first professional footballing league inside any of the lands that encompass Valanora. It was formed by eight clubs who looked to create a stable and professional league for the sport to grow and support the national team. These clubs were: Gladerial United, Mar Sara FC, Char Sara FC, SC Rinaldi, AC Valanari, Baysleef FC, FC Travesian, and Manavawi Athletic. The league was contested for nearly thirty years, with Gladerial winning an impressive nineteen titles during this time. All seemed well until Gladerial United denied the entry of Raynor City United and Raynor City FC into the division, with the former having been originally formed as a youth team for Gladerial and they were not wanting to lose that access, which caused a rift within the remaining seven clubs and resulted in them dissolving of the league with their united departure.
The Formation
Following the dissolution of the First Division, the seven former clubs joined with the two Raynor City based clubs to formally create The Elven Premier League with Gladerial reluctantly joining as well. Two more clubs were added in and the twelve teams competed in the league for roughly twenty years between this time before another expansion club was added into the mix in the form of FC Capri. This expansion team would be a huge success, winning the title in their first season in the league and giving many business owners the idea that they could also have this success and in a short time the league expanded to twenty teams. As money began to flow into the league and international play began, thanks to the formation of the UICA, domestic football began to really take off and it was not long until there was three tiers and a total of sixty-six clubs competing in the league system.
