The Pasargan national football team is the representative team of Pasarga in international association football. It is organized by the Pasargan Footballing Association, the governing body for football in Pasarga.
The Wanderers are a team known more for success in regional play, as well as the Young Wanderers (The U21 team) in the Di Bradini Cup. However the team did lift the World Cup in World Cup 72, in a period where the team made the Final for three straight editions.
History
The Wanderers first entered competition during the Baptism of Fire for World Cup 46. The first match ever in a WCC sanctioned tournament would be against Dave Campbell, where the opposition would win by a score of one to nil. Despite a group stage exit during the tournament, the Wanderers would reach the Finals in the next World Cup, although qualification would be a consistent problem for the side until the sixty and seventy editions the competition.
It would be in World Cup 71 where the Wanderers would begin to shine, making their way all the way to the Final, but lost to Osarius in the Final. Next edition the side would once again make the Final, this time taking on regional rivals of Eura and this time would emerge as the victors in an extra time affair. It would be the first and thus far the only time the Wanderers have won the World Cup, losing in World Cup 73 in a rematch against Eura in the Final. This three cycle period is considered the golden age of Pasargan football at the senior level.
Copa Rushmori
A meeting between representatives from Sargossa, Nethertopia, Candelaria And Marquez, and Pasarga in Torgos resulted in the formation of a regional championship that would become the Copa Rushmori. The inaugural edition would take place in Nethertopia, where the Wanderers would make the semifinals but fall at the penultimate stage. It would not be until the twenty-first edition where the Wanderers would finally make the Final and the side would defeat Kernansquillec in a penalty shootout after the two sides finished one one through a hundred twenty minutes.
The side would make the Final of the next edition but where they were victors in a penalty shootout in the previous edition, would be the losers in this one against Taeshan. It was a third penalty shootout in as many Finals for the Wanderers when they made it in the twenty-fifth edition, this time earning the trophy against Valladares. In Copa Rushmori 28 that was taking place in Pasarga, the team would make the Final once more, but would be upset in extra time by Eastfield Lodge, the latter's biggest achievement in the sport according to some historians.
In Copa Rushmori 32, the side was not expected to go far after poor performances in World Cup Qualifying, however they managed to pull off a few upsets and found themselves once more in the Final. Against all odds, the Wanderers bested Eura four to two and earned a very unexpected trophy. The following tournament was being hosted in the Dual Islands once more and off the success they had the previous edition, the Wanderers once more made the Final. Nearby rivals of Sargossa were the opponent but in front of a home crowd, the side would when their fourth trophy and second in a row. It however was the last time the Wanderers would even make the semifinals, the side entering into a stage of decline shortly after the two unexpected regional titles.
