There are 16 public holidays in Darmen recognized in legislation. Holidays in Darmen do not shift when they fall on weekend dates. Eleven of the holidays are classified as non-working holidays, wherein all non-essential businesses must be closed, although one of these non-working holidays is official in only one of Darmen's regions. When work is necessary on non-working holidays, workers are to be paid at a rate of 1.5 times their normal pay, or "time and a half." Five of the holidays are classified as working holidays, wherein businesses are not required to close, but may do so if they choose to.
