Tannenberg FC, also known as Tannenberg or TFC for short, is a professional Valladar football club based in Carloburgo that plays in the Valladar Liga-1, the highest level of the Valladar football league system. Established in 1928 in the downtown borough of Tannenberg by a group of wealthy students living in the zone, Tannenberg became a founding member of the Mountbatten Football Association in 1935 and rose to become absolute dominators of the state league, only letting crosstown rivals AC Tallin win it three times. Later on, Tannenberg were a founding member of the Valladar Super League, and have competed in the top flight every season. They play their home matches at White Meadow Arena, located in the outskirts of Carloburgo and able to seat 69,780 people.
Up to the 72nd Valladar Liga-1 season, Tannenberg have won seven league championships, three Kings' Shields and two Canalave Crowns. Internationally, their best achievement has been a runner-up finish in the 52nd UICA Globe Cup. Tannenberg have fierce rivalries with Metropolis Alligators and Eterna Stars, as well as with Pradera FC and Slateport Bulls. The club's traditional kits are black shirts with white stripes and black shorts and socks, with the alternate kits traditionally featuring the colours red and white as a tribute to the flag of the city of Carloburgo.
History
Stadium
Since the 11th Super League season, Tannenberg FC have hosted their home matches at White Meadow Arena, located in the rural district of Tomford in the outskirts of Carloburgo, next to the Carloburgo-Pradera highway. The stadium, which became the first one in the nation to be owned by a club, was built thanks to the financial support of Cotdelapomais airline Oak Air, which owned and sponsored the club at the time.
Prior to the opening of White Meadow Arena, Tannenberg hosted their matches at the Olympic Stadium, which could seat 62,000 fans and was downsized to its current capacity of 38,755 once the club left for their new stadium.
Supporters and rivalries
Widely known as the team of Carloburgo's elite and middle-high classes, Tannenberg FC started expanding outside their core fanbase thanks to their success in the Mountbatten state league, being soon embraced by people from all social backgrounds in Carloburgo as well as in nearby towns and all over the Mountbatten state, turning them into one of the teams with the biggest following in Valladares. Tannenberg's main rival since the amateur era has been crosstown rival AC Tallin, who were born from the middle and lower classes of Carloburgo, and against whom they play the ''Carloburgo Derby''. However, the Citizens quickly opened up a huge gulf in quality between both sides, which added to Tallin's recent stagnation in the lower tiers of the Liga Federal has diminished the rivalry. TFC also has city derbies against fellow Carloburgo sides Ajax and Phoenix, with the former having flourished with the Immigrants' continuous stay and consolidation in Liga-1. Nowadays, Tannenberg have rivalries with Metropolis Alligators and Eterna Stars (both originated at the start of the Super League), as well as Slateport Bulls and Pradera FC, who are currently the closest top tier sides to the Citizens. Matches against Pradera, known as the Western Valladares derby, have especially gained momentum in recent times following heated clashes between the fanbases of both sides, and also considering the fact that both are the most successful teams in the region.
Ownership
Traditionally owned by wealthy local entrepreneurs during the amateur era and the early years of professionalism, Tannenberg FC became the first Valladar club to have non-Valladar owners, as Cotdelapomais airline Oak Air bought the club shortly after their first Super League title in a bid to enter the Valladar market. Although the Oak Air takeover promised an era of unprecented success for Tannenberg along with the announcement of the construction of a stadium for the club, the lack of silverware as well as Tannenberg's subpar performances during the early years of their administration soured the relationship between the club's owners and the fans. The opening of White Meadow Arena was not enough to quell the criticism aimed at the Cotdelapomais owners, with the club's most radical fans even resorting to measures such as boycotting home matches and protesting over the visits of Oak Air representatives to Carloburgo. In parallel, another group of fans organized themselves and began to gather funds in order to buy back the club, approaching the ownership in a more peaceful way. This group became the Tannenberg FC Supporters' Trust upon completing the acquisition of the club from Oak Air prior to the start of the 13th Super League season and soon after it opened registrations for club members, surpassing 45,000 club members within the first month of the recruitment campaign. Thus, Tannenberg FC became the first Valladar club entirely owned by its fans.
