The 2024 DSAFF Comrades Cup, also known as 2024 Comrades Cup or simply Vicures Islands 2024, was the fourth edition of the Comrades Cup, the most prestigious tournament organized by the Democratic Socialist Assembly Football Federation (DSAFF). The competition took place in the Vicures Islands from June 22 to July 24, 2024.
A total of 64 matches were played across ten venues in nine cities The host nation became the first in DSAFF history to exit the tournament at the group stage, failing to qualify for the knockout phase. The final, held at the Stadium Costa in Ponta-Marè on July 24, saw debutants Helisweerde secure a surprising 2-1 victory over the fourth-ranked Yucatan, earning their first Comrades Cup title.
Sara Rodríguez of Yucatan was named the Best Player and finished as the top goalscorer with six goals. Tarek Marcouch of Helisweerde, aged just 17, was awarded the Best Young Player after scoring four goals. The Best Goalkeeper award went to Louis Midjohanesen of Nordustra. Helisweerde’s coaching duo, Dennis Alberda and Maria Fountas Kostopolous, received the Best Coach award. Despite early criticism from the Helisweerde Voetbalbond over management and squad selection, their leadership guided a young and inexperienced team—boasting an average age of just 23.38 years—to an unprecedented triumph.
History
Continuing its growth and expansion, DSAFF decided to once again organize a Comrades Cup with 32 teams, following the previous edition. Thirty teams responded to the call, while two (UFS Mexico and Inglaland) qualified through the COTEFU qualification pathway. Inglaland returned to compete in a DSAFF tournament two years after the 2022 Comrades Cup.
Among these thirty-two teams, eleven made their debut in a DSAFF Comrades Cup: Montecrux, Heelisweerde, New Angus, Skøvgard, Rocheaux, Otterland, Thonburi, The Washington Federation, Kurdiastan, Cervetia and Kùrtàry. Of these eleven, seven were making their absolute debut in a DSAFF competition: New Angus, Rocheaux, Otterland, Thonburi, The Washington Federation, Cervetia, and Kùrtàry.
Host nation

The period for submitting a bid to host the fourth edition of the Comrades Cup to the DSAFF Congress began on February 13, 2024. Following their victory in the 2023 DSAFF Frost Cup, the football federation of the Vicures Islands submitted their bid on the same day. The deadline for bid submission was set for May 15, 2024, and as the only nation to submit a bid, the Vicures Islands officially became the host country for the 2024 Comrades Cup.
The competition's logo incorporates various national elements. The main symbol is the Vicurian Wolf, accompanied by the Cross of the Order of Christ and the Heart of Saint Albert. After three years since the last occurrence (the polar bear Hamäkal in the 2021 DSAFF Frost Cup), a DSAFF competition reintroduced official mascots: Romeu and Grazi. The wolf Romeu was named in honor of the Vicurian poet Romeu Sodrè, while Maruese Zorro Grazi was named in honor of the Vicurian painter Graziele Perach.
